Students and employees are insured through the Unfallkasse M-V [M-V accident insurance fund] when participating in supervised sports courses offered by the University Sports Centre. However, there is no insurance cover through the Unfallkasse M-V for competitive events such as university leagues, free play courses and flat rates, e.g. for the gym or sports hall. Non-employees and civil servants are not covered by this general insurance cover.

External participants are not insured by the Unfallkasse M-V, even if they are properly enrolled in a university sports course. In this case, statutory or private accident insurance should be taken out. All participants are advised to ensure that they have adequate accident and health insurance and liability insurance.

3. Disclaimer

No. For organisational reasons, trial training sessions or try-out lessons are not possible. Only registered participants can take part in university sports activities.

A short-term cancellation of course lessons (e.g. due to illness of the course instructor) does not oblige University Sports to make up the course lesson or refund a proportionate amount of the course fees. Course fees will only be refunded if the course does not take place.

There is no legal entitlement to the advertised courses being held.

If individual course dates are cancelled, for example due to illness of the instructor, a substitute may conduct the course or the instructor will attempt to offer make-up dates in consultation with University Sports. There is no legal entitlement to make-up dates.

Cancellation of sports courses without entitlement to compensation:

  • if the course day falls on a public holiday,
  • if the course instructor is unable to attend and no qualified substitute is available
  • in the event of disruptions to operations (due to construction work, repairs, etc.),
  • if the respective sports facility is occupied by competitions, tournaments, training courses or other events,
  • due to weather conditions, and
  • in cases of force majeure.

If a course is fully booked, you can add your email address to the waiting list and register for the university sports notification service. As soon as a place becomes available in the desired course, everyone on the waiting list will be notified by email at the same time. The first person to book will receive the place in the course.

  • See waiting list
  • Remaining places can be found in the sports course programme under the link ‘Remaining places’. The free places can be booked online. (See also ‘What information do I need for online registration?’).

You can send an email to the course instructor using the contact form. To do so, click on the name of the course instructor for the respective course. For data protection reasons, the email addresses of course instructors cannot be disclosed to participants.

If the contact form does not work, please send an email to hochschulsport@uni-greifswald.de. It will then be forwarded to the respective trainer.

Our courses do not meet the standards required by health insurance companies in terms of the number of sessions and course duration. Therefore, it is not possible to apply for a subsidy. Courses that are specifically indicated are excluded from this.

The confirmation of participation will be displayed as an HTML page, i.e. a website. This format can be saved, printed and sent from any computer and does not require any additional software. If you no longer have the confirmation, you can contact the University Sports Office by email. They will send you a new confirmation of participation.

You can also show the confirmation of registration to the instructor on your mobile phone.
